Dental science, which is concerned with the study of how the teeth and oral cavity affect the entire body, is the basic theory of the dentistry. The other theories associated with this field of medicine include radiology, structural biology, electrodialysis, biology, electrophysiology, biophysics anatomy, numerical reasoning etc. The oral diseases are categorized as either acute or chronic. Acute oral disease is the one that occurs suddenly, while chronic oral disease occurs over a long period of time, or it occurs continuously. Dental problems that are categorized as acute include caries, decay of the tooth structure, abscesses, gum ailments etc.
Dental cavities develop either because of intrinsic abnormalities of the jaw structure, or because of external stimuli like toothpaste, toothbrushes and plaque. External stimuli cause cavities if they abrade the teeth and cause friction near the surface of the tooth. The decay of the tooth happens when the food and the saliva that wash down the teeth do not reach the root of the tooth and decay below. Cavities are filled either with synthetic material like amalgam and metal fillings, or with enamel and composite fillings. Dental tools include dental instruments used to remove decayed tooth, extractions, crowns, bridges and caps, as well as dental tools for molding and filing.
